The History of YCC

It begun with a vision.
The year was 2008.
Garfield Perez, a BSED-Catechetics during that time wanted to organize a college Catholic Faith Defenders in Holy Cross of Davao College, helping the Church in promulgating her teachings and to help the school  in attaining its vision.
To achieve this, he actively participated in the activities organized by the Catholic Faith Defenders, at the University of Southeastern Philippines and San Pedro Cathedral Chapters. He asked the help of the valiant and veteran Catholic Apologists, namely: Ryan Mejillano, Hector Damaso, Isahel Alfonso, and others. Through their efforts, the Young Catholic Crusaders was born. But it wasn't acknowledge yet until the first semester of the School Year 2010-2011. Perez's determination and zeal accompanied by his unceasing prayers were felt by some of the students both from his formation house and within the school such as: Juna Grace Torres, the second president, Mark Daryl Lampitok and other catechetics students in the John XXIII Catechetical Center (JCC).
Unfortunately, he graduated without witnessing the growth of this group. Garfiel Perez, a man with great love for the Church but humble enough to accept sufferings and sacrifices. The pillar of the Young Catholic Crusaders.
He was succeeded by Juna Grace Torres,a BS in Psychology student who has an intense interest in Apologetics. Together with Mark Daryl Lampitok, they continued the task Garfield started, especially the acknowledgement of the group to be part of the official campus organization in HCDC.  The efforts of the two young faithful were not wasted nor even ruined because the Young Catholic Crusaders is already part of the official club of the Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc.

As the organization still in its infancy, God never left them orphaned. From the start, the YCC was blessed to have a very energetic and passionate moderator in the person of Dr. Lourdes Ramos-Lucero. Her contribution was not unhelpful. Truly, God blessed YCC.
The YCC is a very helpful instrument to the students of HCDC. This was very evident and was testified by one of its members: Cyril Villarente Galleros, who was an anti-catholic and ignorant to the teachings of the Church before. The exit of Garfield was the entrance for Cyril. He actively engaged to the organization's cause and became additional pillar of the Young Catholic Crusaders.
Though, the YCC is still in its infancy, Juna, Mark and Cyril are positive enough that this organization will help more students in understanding the Catholic Church, deepening their faith and defending it if necessary. They are all looking forward for another history that will be written and recorded for the upcoming years.
